Kids these days

Cancer seemingly took the day off, so my fellow let me sneak out a little early. Since it's such a beautiful day, Izzy decided to take me for a walk. Kidding. She is actually pretty well-behaved on a leash. But man, Sheffield on the Harpeth proved to be quite a gauntlet today. I think the following event is worth sharing:
Some junior high girl yelled at me from the window of a passing school bus. Exact words: "You're weird, and your dog is ugly!" Really? She hasn't lived long enough to know that untrue insults just end up sounding pitiful. Walking through my neighborhood wearing a black shirt and red running shorts with my hair in a ponytail doesn't exactly qualify me as a weirdo (clearly she's never been to a psych ward), and Izzy is far from being a so-ugly-that-she's-cute dog. Poor girl needs to learn to go for the jugular, like commenting on my huge butt, or the glare from my white-girl legs, or how she can't tell which one of us is the dog. And heck, even if she had been clever enough to properly heckle me, I at least have the satisfaction of being able to drive myself home at the end of the day.
